Olmert Announces Tough Concessions Ahead in Talks with Syria [Israel National News]
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told Israelis Wednesday night talks with Syria could mean "concessions which will not be simple." He did not elaborate.

Violent attacks against Jews in recent weeks have taken place in Los Angeles, England and New York City. In Ireland, a Jewish man had graffiti daubed on his home reading: "Go Home, Jew."They won't stop attacking us until we stand up for ourselves. Until we denounce, reject, and erradicate the corruption, fear, and self-doubt in our own ranks, we cannot and will not survive against outside attack.
Now is the time for all of Israel to stand up and fight back. This begins by throwing out the 2,000 year old diaspora scapegoat "woe-are-we" mentality. We are not the victims here: We are the victors. And the sooner we accept that, the better.
We are Israel. We. Always. Win.

Omri at Mere Rhetoric has an awesome post detailing the intelligence battle between U.S. and Israeli governments leading up to the fantastic Israeli bombing raid on a Syrian weapons factory last September. In the excerpt below, Omri begins by citing an ABC news report, and then adds his own commentary:
I couldn't have said it better myself....A senior U.S. official said the Israelis planned to strike during the week of July 14 and in secret high-level meetings American officials argued over how to respond to the intelligence. Some in the administration supported the Israeli action, but others, notably Sect. of State Condoleeza Rice did not. One senior official said the U.S. convinced the Israelis to "confront Syria before attacking."The awesome thing is that Israel probably had a mole in the facility, which means that the State Department's request for Israel to "confront" would have outed an intelligence asset and given the Syrians the heads up to start preparing for an IAF attack. These people should be fired. All of them.

Syria ups army infrastructure on border [JPost]
Syria has spent the past few months constructing and moving infrastructure to its southern border that could be used to launch a war against Israel, senior defense officials have told The Jerusalem Post.When something like this pops up on the mainstream media's radar, it's always wise to check the J-blogosphere for more details. Orthodox Jewish Israeli "Carl in Jerusalem" over at Israel Matzav comes through, yet again, with War with Syria on the horizon? Bet on it (my prediction below). Along with providing a link to yet another JPost report detailing that Russia has decided to sell thousands of advanced weapons to Syria, Carl links to the above-quoted JPost article and concludes that:
According to the officials, the Syrian military - while restricted in the number of troops it is allowed to deploy along the border - has moved military infrastructure, including fuel depots, closer to the frontier. The Syrians have also built structures in the area that could serve as weapons stores and military bases.
"There is no doubt that something out of the ordinary is taking place on the Syrian side of the border," a high-ranking official said. ...
I've already gone out on a limb and said that I believe that there will be another war in the north by late spring or early summer. I'll go further: May 24. That's the day after the Shavuoth holiday here. I believe war will happen on the northern front no later than May 24. You heard it here first.Biblically speaking, spring is the time when wars begin. [2 Samuel 11] HaShem also moves at His appointed times. I've had a conviction in my spirit for months that this season would bring war with Syria. Will it wait until after the feasts? I doubt it.
Now is the time for us to pray for HaShem's guidance and wisdom to be upon His people; for His appointed leaders to respond to His call for this hour; for victory to be swift and certain, that His Word would again be proven true; that, in His mercy, He would forgive us our sins and remember His love for His people Israel and save us in order that His Name would be glorified and the truth of Yeshua the Messiah would be made known to all of am Yisrael. Olmert: Israel Must Be Prepared for War [Israel National News]
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told his cabinet and the heads of Israel's intelligence agencies that Israel needs to prepare for war, despite the estimates that war with Syria was unlikely this year. "We must also prepare for things that are not very likely to happen," Olmert said at the close of the government session Sunday.
Olmert also announced he would be holding cabinet discussions at frequent intervals, in order to study the conclusions the IDF was reaching as it studied the Lebanon war, and to make sure lessons were being learned and implemented.
